What is it?
The third annual YMDC 5K is right around the corner. On Saturday, April 7, Metro Drug Coalition will be hosting a 5K walk/run in support of Youth Metro Drug Coalition. The race will be held at Sequoyah Hills Park and will begin at 10AM. This event is family friendly and we encourage everyone to bring the whole family to support such an important tool in combating substance abuse in Knox County.
What is YMDC?
YMDC is a youth initiative in Knox county made up of high school students who have been directly affected by addiction or are passionate about reducing substance abuse. The group works hands-on with prevention efforts to help educate their peers about addiction and substance abuse. This group is diligent about seeing change in the early choices their peers are making with drugs and alcohol.
The race benefits a scholarship fund that students who are members of YMDC can apply for, as well as to fund projects and events the coalition plans.
