And so it begins. Our very first blog post. I’m so glad you stopped by.
After months of consideration, I finally decided to put words on the screen and get this thing started. This has been something we’ve considered for quite some time now but wanted to wait until the time was right. Now, with two new employees and a fresh crop of interns, it seems to be as good a time as any!
For those of you I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting, let me introduce myself. My name is Heather, and I’m MDC’s “content queen.” Whether it’s through our eNewsletter, website or social media accounts, I’m passionate about connecting with our supporters and educating the community about substance abuse.
During my 3+ year tenure, I have established MDC as the go-to resource for substance abuse prevention in Knoxville. When there’s a big news story or cause for community concern, we are one of the first organizations contacted. People know and respect what we have to say, and that feels good.
Blogging is just one more way to spread the good news of prevention. But it’s not just about pushing our own agenda. It’s a platform for you to actively engage with us.
Although I’m a newbie blogger, I hope make this as helpful and relevant as possible to you, our reader. My goal is to provide you with thought-provoking content and tips to keep you and your family healthy and substance-free.
Still not convinced to read our blog? I’ll give you 5 reasons:
- Every week you will learn new things about reducing drug and alcohol abuse.
- We are a respected leader in our field with more than 27 years experience.
- We stay on top of the latest research in substance abuse prevention.
- It gives you an opportunity to get to know our staff on a personal level and interact with us.
- You’ll sound really profound and intellectual when you talk to your friends and coworkers. Ha!
I am so excited to get started! If you have comments or blog topic ideas, I’d love to hear from you. You can [wpml_mailto email=”hsutton@metrodrug.org”]drop me an email[/wpml_mailto] or leave a comment below.
