Parenting Curriculums
MDC currently offers two parenting curriculums. Active Parenting is a traditional style class with video-based instruction. The course focuses on the authoritative parenting style which combines warmth, sensitivity and the use of positive reinforcement with reasoning. This course helps parents move away from a parenting style that uses threats or punishments to get results.
The other course we offer is Rezilient Kidz: Raising Highly Capable Kids. This curriculum focuses on 40 developmental assets and strives to build children who make healthy choices and avoid decision making that may hinder growth and maturity. Raising Highly Capable Kids takes the approach that community development and familial bonds are equally important as building parenting skills. We know that raising healthy and happy children and building resilient children takes an effort from beyond the traditional family unit. We hope we can help you wherever you are in the process.
