What is the contest?
This contest consists of submitting a photo of a Halloween-themed poster that addresses the dangers of prescription and over-the-counter medication misuse. The theme for this year’s contest is “Medication Misuse is Scarier Than…”. For example, your poster could be titled “Medication Misuse is Scarier Than Dracula!”.
Get creative and have fun with it!
What does Halloween-themed mean?
If you think it is Halloween-themed, then it will be accepted! Please avoid violence, gore, and scare tactics.
What should the poster be about?
As long as the poster is about prescription and over-the-counter medication misuse, it is up to you! Click here to see prescription and over-the-counter medication misuse data that you can incorporate into your poster.
Who can enter the contest?
Any Knox County middle school student may enter this contest. This includes home school students.
What do I get if I win?
- The First Place Winner will receive a $25 Target gift card, YMDC t-shirt, and a gift bag. Your poster will be shared on our social media accounts on Halloween!
- The Second Place Winner will receive a $15 Taco Bell gift card, YMDC t-shirt, and a gift bag. Your video will be shared on our social media accounts on Halloween!
What if I want to make the poster with a group? Do we each get a prize?
If you choose to work with a group, the above prizes for first and second place winners remain the same. You will not receive any additional items.
When is the photo submission deadline?
All submissions are due no later than Thursday, October 27th at 11:59pm. Late submissions will not be accepted.
How do I submit my poster?

When will I know if I won?
Winners will be contacted on Friday, October 28th.

What is the contest?
This contest consists of submitting a one minute (or less) Halloween-themed video that addresses the dangers of prescription and over-the-counter medication misuse. You can choose to do a roleplay, skit, public service announcement, animation, song, etc. The possibilities are endless as long as it’s Halloween-themed submitted in a video format!
Media Release
Please fill out MDC’s Media Release Form so that we have permission to share your video on our social media platforms. If you are 18 years old, please click here to fill out the media release form.
