Metro Drug Coalition is pleased to welcome our spring media relations intern, April Damron.
April is a sophomore in the College of Communications at the University of Tennessee, majoring in public relations. In addition to her internship and classes, April is an active member in her Panhellenic sorority, Kappa Delta, and serves on the fundraiser committee as well as the sisterhood enrichment team which works closely with its new members. Outside of these commitments, April enjoys spending time with her family and traveling to new cities or sites.
Last year, April was a member of the Leadership and Service Living and Learning community at UT. This opportunity allowed her to work hands-on with elementary students in the Knoxville area and step into an active role when it came to leadership and service activities. April is currently a sorority representative for Emmaline’s in Chattanooga, Tennessee and works alongside their media team to encourage social media promotion and interaction. She continues to utilize opportunities to improve her communication and writing skills in everyday life.
April hopes to use her internship at MDC to learn more about the Knoxville community’s reactions to drug abuse prevention efforts. April is looking forward to learning more about how media planning is unique in the nonprofit sector.
Welcome April to the MDC team, we are so excited to have you!
