Metro Drug Coalition is pleased to introduce our fall media relations intern, Cara Hunter. Cara is currently a sophomore at the University of Tennessee, pursuing a degree in public relations and minoring in business administration. In addition to her internship, Cara spends a lot of her time as the New Member Educator for Phi Mu sorority while completing academic and extracurricular work for the Chancellor’s Honors Program. Outside of her academic and professional career, Cara enjoys trying new restaurants with her friends and going home to Nashville to visit her family.
Cara recently worked for the University of Tennessee as an Ignite Team Leader for the Center for Leadership and Service. This mentoring position educates incoming students about campus leadership and service opportunities while contributing towards their successful transition into the collegiate environment. Cara also spent the summer as a Style Guru with College Fashionista. This provided her the opportunity to write her own articles for the College Fashionista website and promote them through social media outlets, which improved her social media presence and writing skills.
While working with MDC, Cara hopes to learn more about the effects of drug addiction in East Tennessee and how to advocate for community awareness. She is excited to gain experience in nonprofit public relations and develop a better understanding for using communication skills to spread awareness on the effects of drug addiction.
Welcome to the team, Cara! We are so happy to have you for the semester.
