Recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Healthcare Provider Award
Congratulations to Marie Ford, LPN of Knoxville Recovery Center for winning the Outstanding Healthcare Provider Award at the 11th Annual Community Champion Awards. This award goes to a healthcare provider who has exhibited outstanding service in the field of substance misuse & treatment.
About Marie
Marie Ford found a pathway to sobriety in 2000. She began working in the field of recovery in 2001 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2005 with a goal of working in medical detox.
Throughout the past 19 years, she has had the opportunity to work in different treatment settings and share her passion of finding joy in recovery.
Today, she works at Knoxville Recovery Center, where she brings personal experience to her nursing role.
Word From Marie’s Nomination
Marie is without a doubt the most thorough employee I have ever seen. Her job scope would allow her to just pass out medications and check boxes, but she does much more than that. She is typically the one to read through the patient’s history and really meet their biomedical needs. This is important as she has, many times over, reduced the impact of significant medical events. She is the one who will meet patients where they are and provide them care and empathy. This is in contradiction to some of the norms of not understanding addiction and pushing addicts away from support rather than comforting them and reducing stigma.
Thank you, Marie, for the important work you are doing in the Knoxville community!
