Coffee with a Cause

Gateway Coffee opened April 30, 2024 with the mission of hiring and training individuals in recovery. Working at Gateway Coffee helps soberistas build soft skills and a resume so that they can transition into long-term employment.

Gateway Coffee hopes to be a meeting space between the greater Knoxville community and the East Tennessee recovery community, opening conversations to forge connections and challenge stigma surrounding substance use disorders and recovery.

All money made at Gateway Coffee supports the operation of The Gateway, Knoxville’s first and only recovery community center. The Gateway serves as a hub for East Tennessee’s recovery community, offering resources, classes, meetings, and support to anyone in or seeking long-term recovery.
