A Vape Free Future Contest Overview
Rules
Open to any student in grades 9 through 12 residing in Knox County.
- Your team can consist of up to 1-4 students from the same school or organization.
- There is no limit to how many teams can participate from each school or organization. However, each student can only be a part of one team.
Signed permission slips are required for all group members.

Any copyrighted materials should be credited.
- Participants must possess rights to all content used. If your team uses music or visuals they did not create, credit must be included in the submission. If you got permission to use any materials under a creative common license, make sure to include that information in the caption as well.
The video must be worked on and completed by students.
- Teachers and other adults, including parents, may provide written or verbal guidance but cannot be involved in production activities. They cannot do any writing, producing of audio or visuals, or video editing.
Avoid offensive material.
- Avoid anything in your video that is offensive or inappropriate. Videos with offensive or inappropriate content will be removed from the competition. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Any illegal, offensive, or obscene content of any kind, including nudity, profanity and excessive or gratuitous violence.
- Content that advocates and/or supports racial, cultural, religious or gender bias.
- Showing any sort of illegal substances, including those that are illegal for minor to buy or use (alcohol, tobacco products etc.)
- This includes showing someone vaping, holding a vape cartridge (even if it’s empty), drinking, or holding alcohol (including empty bottles).
- You may imply that people are vaping or using substances, but you may not show real substances or real containers of substances.
Submission
Submit your final video by March 14th, 2025 at 11:59 PM
How to Submit
- Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo.
- Submit the link to your team’s video with all required documents and information by filling out the form on our website.
How to Submit
- When uploading, make sure video can be seen by anyone with the link by setting it to unlisted or public on YouTube or on Vimeo. If it is listed as private or password protected, we won’t be able to see your video and can’t consider it for the competition.
- If using any materials (music or visuals) under a creative common license, make sure to cite it or give credit to the creators in the caption as well.
- Title the video online with what you want to it to be called. You’ll have to include this title on the submission form.
Judging
A panel of judges will decide the winning video. A professionally produced ad will be made based on the winning ad. Since the ideas of the winning video will be turned into a professional production, judges will put the greatest weight on creative ideas and unique ways of conveying the message.
Judges will score based on
- Creative, out of the box thinking
- Engaging & persuasive content (for the target audience)
- Accurate & reliable information
- General quality: Video clips not blurry, sound is clear and understandable
- A clear message: Video focuses on a single message and the audience takeaway is clear
