Intake Coordinator

Metro Drug Coalition (MDC) is a nonprofit organization striving to create a healthy and safe community, free of substance misuse. We have served the Knoxville community for 36 years. Our goal is to increase access to evidence-based prevention education, harm reduction and recovery support services for anyone desiring to maintain or seek a life free from substance misuse. Through community collaborative efforts, we can all strengthen families and prevent future generations from the devastating consequences of addiction.

Job Title:  Intake Coordinator

Classification:  Full Time

Job Summary: The Intake Coordinator for the Metro Drug Coalition performs a variety of support services for the recovery support staff team, some of which may be complex and confidential in nature.

Accountabilities:

  • Director of Recovery Support Services

Essential Functions:

  • Provides ongoing, support to the Recovery Support Team
  • Assists in initial contacts with clients seeking services, routes clients to the appropriate recovery support staff member, assists in scheduling coaching visits, coordinates scheduling of recovery meetings and other community-related recovery events
  • Clerical tasks include making copies, coordinating transportation for clients, and assists with both electronic and paper filing
  • Monitors phone calls, walk-ins at The Gateway (Recovery Community Center), and messages for the recovery support team
  • Schedules recovery specific trainings, events and manages communications for the Director of Recovery Support Services
  • Maintains electronic and printed records of relevant meeting minutes, supervision notes, program monthly reports, staff time sheets, etc.
  • Assists with correspondence on behalf of MDC and/or agency as needed
  • Assist with recruiting & working with volunteers
  • Participates in MDC all staff meetings and recovery support staff meetings
  • Provide recovery coaching services to clients as needed
  • Other job responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the agency

Job Specifications:

  • An enthusiastic individual in long-term recovery who is welcoming and able to work with a diverse group of both MDC team members and individual clients
  • Dependable, well organized, efficient and detail oriented
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks without direct supervision
  • Ability to work independently and within a team on special projects such as continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work in a discreet manner, maintaining confidentiality of staff and client information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office programs.
  • Proficient in utilization of office equipment such as printers and fax machines
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • A valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance and reliable transportation is required.
  • An “f” endorsement driver’s license or willingness to obtain one to transport clients
  • Occasional local travel may be required
  • Flexible schedule required
