FLOURISH Training: Working with Criminal Thinking
October 30 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Working with justice-involved clients can be challenging; oftentimes, reality is skewed by distorted thinking due to substance use, mental illness, and/or criminal behavior. It is important to recognize how thinking errors and criminal thinking patterns can interfere with effective interventions.
In this training, participants will learn how to recognize these distorted thought processes and help clients overcome them. Dr. Patterson will utilize didactic discussion and multimedia to provide examples of thinking errors. Additionally, she will share modalities and methods that have been proven to be effective with this population of clients.
The Working with Criminal Thinking training will be held at the Gateway (530 W. 5th Ave) on Friday, October 30th from 9 AM – 4 PM.
Lunch will be provided by the East Tennessee Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (ETAADAC). Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion for 6 continuing education hours.
